Yesterday, Pal and I got ourselves out of the house and into the world (and by ‘world’ I mean Stone Mountain Park). Before this weekend, Pal had only seen the likes of Stone Mountain at night, in the rain, and lit up by lasers.
First, we hiked up the mountain. A decade or more of not having done this made me forget that it actually is a bit challenging. Not terribly so; it was only a mile, and seeing the young and old taking the trail full force yesterday made us take a deep breath and trudge on. However, I can’t say I wasn’t happy to see the top of the dang thing.
After the hike we drove over to the Grist Mill and Covered Bridge. Since Pal wouldn’t consent to being my main subject, I had to poke around and find a few other things to shoot.
It was fun to get lost for an afternoon in a place that felt far from home, but was really only 10 minutes away.
We ended our day with an incredible meal of grilled porterhouse, sausage, and portabella… with two out three being topped with Bleu cheese.
